Profile: Rick Sexton
Rick is a life-long resident of greater Birmingham and a third generation mortgage banker. Like his dad, Richard, he is a past president of the Greater Birmingham Association of Homebuilders (1981) and was a licensed real estate broker for 40 years. Rick developed the concept of “fee simple townhouses” in Alabama and built over 400 units in Birmingham beginning in 1978. In 1983 Rick moved from real estate development to residential mortgage banking, at both the retail and wholesale level, with both large regional and nationwide banks and as a self-employed mortgage broker.
Rick is a 1968 graduate of Birmingham-Southern College, has been married to Katy since 1969, and has two grown sons, 4 grandsons, and is a 40-year member of Mountain Brook Baptist Church, where Rick is currently serving a three year term as a trustee. His hobbies are hunting, gulf coast fishing and golf.
Rick retired from wholesale mortgage banking in November of 2010 but wanted to return to the business as a Reverse Mortgage originator with McGowin-King in March of 2013. Rick selected McGowin-King because he knew they are the most experienced Alabama reverse mortgage lender. He also appreciated that McGowin-King is locally owned and operated, and that they are a reverse mortgage broker. As such, McGowin-King works with a number of national lenders so that they can shop for the best loan for their borrowers.
The financial and quality of life rewards of a properly engineered Reverse Mortgage merits your further investigation. Rick’s belief in reverse mortgages is demonstrated by the fact that he has one on his own home. Unlike other websites where you have to submit personal data to get information on reverse mortgages, all you need to do is to call Rick at (205) 305-9600 and he can answer your initial questions, or if you prefer, he will meet you in your home for an informational visit where he can go over the “ins and outs” of a reverse mortgage for your situation.
With just a little advance information, Rick can create a complete proposal for your review. We suggest you also invite a trusted adviser, or any family member whom you depend upon for important financial advice. This approach will enable you to determine if a Reverse Mortgage will truly benefit you and your family/heirs.
